Genesis 14: The Rescue of Lot

*These notes come from Bob Deffinbaugh’s study on Genesis 14 at
  • Lot left God’s path out of economic self-interest and was then removed from his own path out of the economic self-interest of the waring kings
  • Abram appeared to be militantly capable
  • Perhaps no test a man faces if greater than that of success
  • King of Salem reminded Abram that the victory was God’s and his success was a result of God’s blessing
  • Abram did not accept his winnings because he did not want the Pagan king to think Abram was rich by him and not by God
  • God sent the king of Salem to remind Abram to not feel as if it was his victory, instead God’s
  • Abram rescued Lot from the consequences of his own sin
